I try wherever possible to use natural, organic or earth friendly products. When I was expecting Beth I didn’t want to assume just because it was a well known brand that it was the best option and as a special treat I decided to try the more expensive natural and earth friendly option. I was still working at this time so I indulged in practically the full range …. well, I had to give it a good trial! I also thought it might be the one and only time I would be able to justify my more expensive natural choice of baby bubble bath and would soon be opting for the cheaper regular versions.
Earth Friendly Baby More Expensive?
Initially when you’re in the supermarket weighing up whether to spend about £5 on natural baby bubble bath compared to £4 for nearly 3 times the amount for a regular version or own brand it seems like financially there is no option but go with the cheaper option.
However, with Earth Friendly Baby products a little really does go a very long way. I couldn’t believe how long the baby bubble bath and shampoo / body wash lasted before we needed to re-stock.
Initially when we first ran out of our lovely Earth Friendly baby bubble bath I did try a standard baby bubble bath that we had been given as a gift. We used it once and that was enough – her skin was noticeably drier than before and it did feel like she needed a moisturiser! As part of my initial indulgence I also purchased the lovely Organic Body Lotion, Beth was 2 a few months ago and I still have this moisturiser that has barely been used as we haven’t really had a need to use it – it may now be moving in to my bathroom cabinet though as it really is lovely.
The main moisturiser I used on Beth when she was newborn was standard olive oil (nothing fancy, just the stuff you use to cook with). My Doctor said that in his experience many skin rashes and general dry skin are from bubble baths, detergents, etc. and that a little olive oil or a splash or two of olive oil in your baby’s bath was the best thing to use on your baby. When she was newborn we just popped a few drops of olive oil in her bath and when she needed it, a little bit massaged on her skin after her bath … although it did feel like we were preparing her for the oven!!
Once she was a few months old we did want bath time to be a bit more fun and smell nice, which is when we started using our Earth Friendly Baby bubble bath products. As I mentioned earlier you only need a tiny amount of any of their products – a little cap full of baby bubble bath will give your little one a bath full of lovely soft bubbles. When needed we mainly used the Earth Friendly Baby Natural Massage Oil to replace the olive oil just because it has a nicer smell really but as it’s a natural range their products aren’t packed full of nasties.
We also use the Earth Friendly Baby shampoo / bodywash on Beth’s hair, not only because like the rest of the range it smells lovely, it also leaves her hair super soft and silky – we always get comments about how lovely and shiny her hair is and asked what product do we use on it.
Soft & Bubbly
The first thing I noticed when I first used the shampoo / bodywash was how soft the bubbles were when I was washing Beth with it, so no wonder she was so lovely and soft after her bath! The bubbles in the baby bubble bath also last a long time and by the end of her bath there are still bubbles left unlike some other baby bubble bath that disappear after a few minutes, leaving you with a bubble-less bath!
Variety of Scents
My personal favourite out of their range is the Lavender scent, we also use Chamomile (which is very subtle) but haven’t tried Mandarin yet – we haven’t managed to get through enough of their products to try all the scents yet!
I also use their nappy creams, either the Daily Care Cream used occasionally to prevent any redness getting worse or Red Clover Diaper Care Cream for rashes or soreness. Both are excellent creams and again last a really long time as they can also be used very sparingly.
Earth Friendly Baby offers a fabulous range of products and I wish they were available in more shops. I can currently only find them in Waitrose in my area or Amazon has the full range available.
