We talk a lot about what food is healthy and not so healthy with Beth and she just loves crunchy salad sticks as part of her lunch so I thought she would really enjoy playing with this latest Sprouts® Garden Fresh Salad Play Food Set provided by Learning Resources.
My first impression was of course the quality of the salad set, which was the usual high standard expected from Learning Resources as well as the lovely bright colours.
Beth also has a fine collection of animals that she likes to cook for and take on picnics so she loved preparing and dishing out their play food salad, which they all loved!
Sorting and Counting Skills
This play food set is brilliant for sorting colours for example and Beth enjoyed separating the salad in to each of the bowls and noticing that there were different shades of green lettuce leaves.
It was also good to count how many of each salad type there was as well as how many salad pieces we had in total taking her all the way up to 32 pieces in total, which include:
12 Lettuce leaves (6 light, 6 dark)
8 yellow pepper rings
4 tomato slices
4 cucumber slices
4 carrot slices
Pincer Grip Skills
As well as the main salad bowl and 4 serving bowls, there is a set of salad servers which are great for helping to develop little ones pincer grip skills as they learn to pick up each salad item from the bowl and serve them up.
Fairy Games & Trees!
Beth loves fairies so as I started to lay the pieces of salad play food out she quickly ran off to get “Rosetta” and we made her a stepping stone path a bit like they do in one of the Tinkerbell movies with buttons.
This salad path also had pepper and lettuce trees in the middle. It was hard work as you can see, so she needed a little rest half way through!
I love the way that Beth always finds her own way to play with toys showing off her wonderful imagination as well as the brilliant versatility of the product.
